About Uyghur Academy Europe
The Uyghur Academy (UA) is founded on September 9th 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey, by nine Uyghur scholars and researchers. Currently the Uyghur Acaddemy has hundreds of researchers, writers, specialists, and students from various countries and regions all over the world as its dedicated members. As a legal research organization, the Uyghur Academy aims to contribute to the advancement of Uyghur national science and education, furthering of Uyghur national enlightenment, and preparation of essential scholars.
The Academy’s Mission
1) Contribute to the advancement of Uyghur national science and education by promoting the organization and collaboration among Uyghur intellectuals.
2) Promote the Uyghur national enlightenment and the preservation of Uyghur national identity.
3) Assist the preparation of Uyghur scholars and specialists in essential scientific fields.
The Academy’s Vision
Encouraging Uyghur intellectuals to work together to awaken the Uyghur national spirit and protect its national identity, as well as to work for the development of talented young Uyghurs in key areas in which Uyghurs need.
The Academy’s Structure
Since its establishment, following the participation of hundreds of Uyghur intellectuals from twenty countries, such as Turkey, EU, USA, Japan, Australia, and the Uyghur Region, as Uyghur Academy Council member, Academy member, candidate member, and Academy representative, the organization has become an academic society that promotes the advancement of national science and education, and the growth of Uyghur national sense and awareness.
After the first three sessions organized in Istanbul, Turkey, on May8th 2010, November 18th 2012, and August 23rd 2015, the Uyghur Academy attained its current state as a well-structured “Uyghur Research Society” through holding democratic elections (secret ballot) and improving its organizational structure by adequately addressing weaknesses.
Despite severe financial constraints, the Uyghur Academy is carrying out its activities without official funding from any country or organization, and only through financial contributions and tireless efforts of its members with the existence and future development of the Uyghur nation as their great vision.
